West Asian Games Federation (WAGF) Minutes of 8th Board of Directors Meeting held in Crowne Plaza Hotel meeting hall, Kuwait , on 8th October 2009 at 6.00 PM.

Total number of attendees was (11) out of (13) which is sufficient to ensure a quorum.
Meeting Proceedings
1. The meeting was started with the welcome speech of Sheikh Talal Al-Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah - WAGF’s President – wished the members a pleasant stay in Kuwait, their second home, and requested to stand for a minute for mourning the demise of Mr. Akram Zaher - Board Member and Chairman of the Environment and Sports Committee.
2. The Board approved the minutes of the 7th WAGF Board of Directors meeting held in Courtyard Hotel Meeting Hall , Kuwait , on Tuesday 10th March 2009 at 5.30 PM.
3. The Board reviewed the latest developments for the hosting of the West Asian Games in Tehran due to be held in the second half for the 2010 (July). The Board decided to postpone it to the year 2011 because of the busyness and participation of most of the Olympic committees, WAGF’s members, in various sports events in 2010.
4. The Board entrusted Mr. Ali Kafashian - the Secretary General and Dr. Hussein Al Mekaimi the Director-General, and in coordination with the Manager of the Asian Games of the OCA Mr. Haider Farman , to propose a suitable date to hold the Fourth West Asian Games, which is postponed to be held in 2011 and to submit it to the Board for discussion.
5. The Board decided to open the bidding for hosting the West Asian Games for the years 2013 and 2015 and the approving of the dates of the Fourth West Asian Games in Tehran in 2011 for the next General Assembly No. (14).
6. The Board approved the report submitted by the Chairman of Culture & Physical Education Committee, and urged that the future focus be on the spreading of sporting culture in the countries of West Asia through lectures, seminars and courses on this matter.
7. The visit date of the Committee which was formed for inspecting the sites and facilities of the host city of the Fourth West Asian Games in 2011 is scheduled during the period of the Islamic Solidarity Tournament in the Islamic Republic of Iran (10 - 25/4/2010) . The Committee consists of the following personnel:-
• Dr. Faysal Al Basri, Chairman of the Advisory Committee.
• Eng. Abdulghani Tabbalat, Chairman of Sports Committee
• Dr. Husain Al-Mekaimi, WAGF’s Director General
8. The Board approved to change the venue of the first Basketball Referees Course for women for the West Asian Countries WAGF’s members from Tehran to the State of Kuwait. Date and time will be determined in coordination between Sheikha Hayat Al Khalifa - Chairman of the Women and Sport Committee of WAGF, and Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah - Chairman of Women & Sports of Kuwait Olympic Committee in addition to the Asian Basketball Federation.
9. The Board approved to fix another date for holding the first Table Tennis Referees Course for women in West Asian Countries WAGF’s members which was scheduled to be held in United Arab Emirates by coordinating between the Chairman of the Women and Sport Committee of WAGF and the UAE Olympic Committee in addition to the Asian Table Tennis Federation.
10. The Board authorized the Federation Secretariat to contact the National Olympic Committees of Iraq & Palestine for nominating new members to WAGF in the place of the missing Mr. Ahmed Samarraei - Vice President , and Mr. Akhram Zahir - Board Member and Chairman of the Environment & Sports Committee, God's mercy, for the remaining period of the present Board.
11. The Board authorized the Chairman of the Women and Sport Committee of the Federation to hold coordination meetings with the chairmen of the Women and Sport Committees of the Olympic Committees WAGF’s Members to look at the latest developments on the work of these committees and to prepare a report and submit it to the Board of Directors for discussion.
12. The Board congratulated His Highness Sheikh / Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on the occasion of assuming the presidency of the UAE Olympic Committee and decided to send greeting for the occasion.
13. The Board congratulated His Highness Sheikh / Nasser bin Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa on the occasion of assuming the presidency of the Bahraini Olympic Committee and decided to send greeting for the occasion.
14. The Board congratulated the Board Member and the Chairman of the Sports Committee, Eng. Abdul Ghani Tabbalat on the occasion of winning the first place for the research papers presented to the First Asian Sports Science Conference held by Olympic Council of Asia in March 2009.
15. The Board congratulated the Director General of the Federation, Dr. Husain Al Mekaimi on winning first place in the scientific research poster contest in the First Asian Sports Science Conference held by Olympic Council of Asia in March 2009.
Members of the Board of Directors expressed their thanks and appreciation to the State of Kuwait, H.H the Amir and his heir, the Loyal People of Kuwait, for their hospitality. Also expressed their great thanks and gratitude to H.E. Sheikh Talal Al-Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for his tireless efforts , his unlimited support to the Board , and his role in surmounting all obstacles, as well as his encouragement to raise sports level in West Asian countries.
Meeting ended at 8.00 PM.
