Minutes of 13th General Assembly Meeting
National Olympic and Paralympic Academy hall, Tehran, I. R. of Iran on Wednesday 11 Jun. 2008 at 5PM.
Attendance
Attended representatives of all member Olympic committees of WAGF except from Oman & Bahrain Olympic Committees in addition to the representative of Iraqi Olympic Committee following the stoppage by International Olympic Committee for their sports activities and participation, and thus the turnout was 10 out of 13 Olympic committees which is enough to secure a quorum.
Before the Meeting
The meeting started under the patronage of H.E. Mohammad Ali Abadi - Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the President of Iran Physician Education Organization and the meeting was initiated by his welcoming speech. In his speech he welcomed guests and members of the West Asian Games Federation's Board of Directors and General Assembly. He emphasized the encouragement of Islamic Republic of Iran for the sports and its support, and praised the role of the Board of Directors of West Asian Games Federation for raising the level of athletes in West Asian Countries and urged to work to increase the number of participating athletes from West Asian countries in global sports events and strive forward to achieve positive results for these countries.
Meeting Proceedings
1-The meeting started with the welcome speech of WAGF President and he thanked the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of H.E. Mahmoud Ahmad Nejad and the vice president H.E. Mohammad Ali Abadi and the Iranian People and the Chairman and members of and the Iranian Olympic Committee for their hospitality and good reception and he welcomed members of the West Asian Games Federation's Board and General Assembly.
2-Approved the minutes of 12th WAGF General Assembly meeting held in JW Marriot Hotel, Kuwait on Wednesday 24/01/2008 at 12:30 PM.
3-The meeting approved Tehran as the host city for the 4th West Asian Games in 2009.
4-Board approved the request of Islamic Republic of Iran to postpone the 4th West Asian Games to 2010.
5-Agreed in principle to hold the next meeting of General Assembly in Kuwait in 2009 and the exact date will be decided later.
6-General Assembly approved the amendments suggested by vice president of WAGF Mr. Ibrahim Abdulmalik in Federation Constitution and assigned the Managing Director of WAGF to do the changes and follow-up.
7-Decided to send letters of thanks to His Excellency Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and to His Excellency Mohammad Ali Abadi - Vice-President of Islamic Republic of Iran , President of Iran Physical Education Organization and to Dr. Reza Gharakhanlou - President of the Olympic Committee of Iran for their support for the West Asian Games Federation and for good reception and hospitality and for the successful management of meetings of WAGF Board of Directors and General Assembly.
